Interviewee: International Student from a Wealthy Family

Interviewer
: As an international student, what's your view on the whole real vs. fake bag debate, and why did you choose our brand?

Interviewee: For me, luxury brands like Hermès aren’t just about the bags—they represent a status I can’t quite reach at the moment. My mom owns a lot of authentic Hermès bags, but since I’m still young and studying abroad, my parents are really strict about my spending. They worry that having too much cash will make me reckless with money. So, they control my allowance pretty tightly. But I grew up watching my mom carry Hermès bags, so it’s become a part of my life.

As an international student, I don’t think it’s necessary to carry a real designer bag everywhere, especially in everyday school life. Real bags are just too valuable, so I’d rather save them for special occasions. I once bought what was supposed to be a high-quality knockoff back home, but the hardware faded quickly, the stitching was bad, and the shape wasn’t even right—it was so embarrassing, especially when my friends noticed. Another time, I overheard them talking behind my back about me carrying a fake bag, which made me really uncomfortable. After that, I decided I wouldn’t buy fake bags anymore, and even taught myself how to spot the difference.

But then one day, my best friend showed up with a Kelly bag. I thought it was real and kept asking how she managed to get it. After a lot of questioning, she finally admitted it was from your brand. That’s when I realized I could happily buy replicas again without anyone being able to tell the difference!
